Follow Leonard on Twitter!

July 3rd, 2009 Leonard No comments

I have probably been one of the longest social networking holdouts in my industry, but, here goes…I created an account on Twitter so that people can follow what I am doing.  I can’t hardly keep up with this blog. While this may not mean much to my studio portrait clients, it may mean something to my seasonal employees, professional associates and possibly my volume clients (Schools). My portrait clients can use this to look for me while on location. I know that my clients like to say, “ Hey” to me when they see me out. Our calendar is very very thick in September and October and it may  be interesting to see where we are from day to day.

I’ve already learned to be careful about who I add as followers. Within hours of creating my account, I received requests from (3) very unscrupulous sources. They were quickly deleted.

I may delve into Facebook in the near future–but that’s another post…Sign up or Log in and follow me today!

Stephanie Rodgers – New Miss Muskingum Valley

March 10th, 2009 Leonard No comments

The first Miss Muskingum Valley has been crowned!  Stephanie Rodgers. stephanie-rodgers1

Of course, you knew that…I photographed both nights of the competition and took 1500+ pictures. The lighting on the Secrest Auditorium stage is tricky at best, however, I was able to figure it out somewhat quickly. I had to move around the auditorium and explore different angles. The show was great and was a true testament to Stina McKendry’s wonderful directing skills.

I enjoyed the show. I met old friends from the audience and the judges panel. The contestants were beautiful and their talent was awesome! In the next few weeks both you and I will be getting to know Stephanie. I will be photographing her crown, publicity & headshots and posting them.

Go to my PicStore Gallery to view images from both nights. The first (preliminary) night and the second (finals) night. It’s a lot of pictures but it’s  a lot of fun going through them to get a flavor of the show. Enjoy!

Karissa Martin – Miss Ohio 2008

February 8th, 2009 Leonard 1 comment

I met Karissa Martin a couple of years ago when I photographed her for a music DVD that she was making to support the American Cancer Society.  She was beautiful then–and she is more beautiful now. For those of you who don’t know Karissa, she is the current reigning Miss Ohio and she recently represented Ohio at the Miss America Pageant held in Las Vegas. The other day she stopped in and I got the privilege of photographing her. The pictures that I uploaded to this post (4 out of 150+) have not been retouched.

Just a bit about Karissa: Karissa was introduced to the arts at an early age and has been the recipient of several honors and awards for her abilities in voice, dance, theater, and piano. With her passion for the stage and entertainment, Karissa dreams of performing on Broadway. In May 2007, Karissa was chosen to perform in various venues across Italy as a soloist for the internationally recognized WLSC Chamber Choir. She currently tours with the Allegro Dance Company.
Karissa is a junior at West Liberty State College pursuing an interdisciplinary degree in Music and Theater Communications.
She resides in Woodsfield, Ohio  with her parents Ron and Sheila Martin.
Please feel free to leave a comment about Karissa and/or her pictures.

BRING MISS OHIO TO YOUR EVENT!

Karissa is more than just a pretty face. She is an intelligent, talented, goal-oriented young woman of today, who is an advocate for her platform, the Miss Ohio and Miss American Organization. Most importantly, she is a role model who inspires and motivates people in our communities.

Senior Highlight – Brianna Burke

February 3rd, 2009 Leonard 1 comment

brianna-senior

If you look at this beautiful girl from a distance, you wouldn’t know that she has an agressive sporty side. Brianna Burke is the lone senior playing for the varsity West Muskingum Girl’s Basketball Team. When I took action shots of  her playing against Crooksville on Senior Day, I was very suprised at how quick Brianna was–she was all over the court–shooting, blocking and stealing the ball! (much different than her relaxed Senior session)  I uploaded a couple of her action shots below. Click on each picture to see a larger view. To see shots from the whole game, visit our Sport & Event Gallery and click on the High School Girls Basketball link.

Client of the Month – January

January 3rd, 2009 Leonard No comments

jennings_thumbOur Client of the Month for January is a family that we have photographed many years. The three children in the picture are triplets. Two handsome boys and one beautiful girl. The family invested in a large Family Portrait for their home and I could have posted that image in this blog post, however, the triplets define the family. Whenever you mention the Jennings you have to mention the triplets. I thought this picture matched their personalities. The beautiful little girl gets to be the “queen bee” of the siblings. They just turned 7 years old. The triplets are very well-behaved and it’s easy to see that they are well-loved by their parents are Jay and Lynn Jennings. Jennings are local business owners. They own Creno’s Pizza & Italian Foods located at 2005 Chandlersville Rd in Zanesville. I haven’t been there yet, but, some of my employees have been there and say the food is wonderful. For being LHP Client of the Month, the Jennings will receive a framed family portrait to display in their business. Plan to have lunch or dinner some day and view their family portrait. Just knowing Jay and Lynn is a treat!
